Albany International Airport is the oldest municipal airport in the United States and serves the Capital District region in New York. It is one of only four airports in the world using dual jet bridges. It has been expanded and demolished many times in its history, and almost all of the current structures were erected fairly recently.

The New York State Capitol is the capitol building for the state of New York. It was built in 1899 and cost $25 million to build, which made it the most expensive government building at the time. The present-day structure is the third incarnation of the capitol building.

The Egg is a performing arts center that hosts various concerts, events and performances throughout the year. Construction began in 1966 and completed in 1978. From a distance, The Egg looks more like a sculpture than a building but actually goes six stories deep into the earth. Its unique look and likeness to an egg has made it a popular city landmark.

Times Union Center is home to the Albany Devils, the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the New Jersey Devils. It opened in 1990 and hosted the Frozen Four twice, in 1992 and 2001, as well as hosted the ECAC Hockey championships from 2003 to 2011. It was also once home to the AHL's Albany River Rats (a team that was coincidentally also a Devils affiliate at one time) and the International Hockey League's Albany Choppers. The arena was former known as Knickerbocker Arena and Pepsi Arena.

Saratoga Springs in upstate New York is best known for its racing heritage, symbolized by the Saratoga Race Course. Opened in 1864, the Saratoga Race Course is home to the oldest major thoroughbred horse race in the United States that draws in thousands of visitors from around the globe; it is also the oldest organized sporting venue of any kind in the United States. It is also the place where the potato chip was invented.
